Quebec Talent Lands in Hollywood for Festival

A film festival aims to introduce talent from the Canadian province to Angelenos and the entertainment industry.

Hollywood is getting the chance to learn a lot more about the U.S.’ French-speaking neighbor thanks to the coordination efforts of the Quebec Government Office in Los Angeles.

On Friday, some of the top names of the Quebec film industry hit the blue carpet at the Egyptian Theatre for the first ever "Quebec in Hollywood" film festival. Five highly acclaimed international premiere and award-winning films from the Canadian province were screened during the weekend. Friday night featured the first film, Starbuck.

The film festival is a part of a larger three-week festival that has been highlighting the sights and sounds, artistry and flavors of Quebecois culture.

Starbuck director Ken Scott and producer Andre Rouleau explained that Quebec has a vibrant culture and a successful industry and they hope to see their projects and many others cross over to Los Angeles.

The three-week festival is in its last week and has hosted several events aimed at introducing Hollywood's entertainment industry to Quebec talent and its artistic ventures. Events have included a fashion show, concerts and happy hours.
