Neighborhood Council to Discuss Helicopters, Park Access Tonight

Among the items up for discussion Monday are support of legislation to regulate helicopter use over residential neighborhoods and access to Lake Hollywood Park.

[Updated] No action was taken at the meeting. Not enough councilmembers were in attendance to reach a quorum.

The Hollywood United Neighborhood Council will hold its regular monthly meeting at Hollywood Adventist Church at 6:30 tonight.

The council expects a motion of support to ask elected leaders to adopt legislation that would regulate helicopter use over residential neighborhoods. 

Also scheduled is an update on access to Lake Hollywood Park including the motion to approve funding of a DOT consultant for safe public access to the park.

Motion to approve funding of DOT consultant for safe public access to Lake Hollywood Park (see March 2011 Motion, Motion: Invite DOT/CD4 -picked consultant to comment on the various proposals for addressing traffic on upper Beachwood (Deronda/Ledgewood), including use of Lake Hollywood Park, upper gate park, etc)
11. Update on LADWP issues, including rate increase requests, and modifications
A. Motion: to ask the City Council to place a referendum before voters in 2013 to determine if they want to continue with the Mayor's timeline for eliminating coal given the potential for much higher electric rates.
B. Motions:
1. On _________, 2011 the ____________ Neighborhood Council, upon finding notification to the LADWP pursuant to the NC/DWP MOU had been made, voted at a duly noticed regular meeting as follows:

The ___________ Neighborhood Council SUPPORTS the Los Angeles Neighborhood Council Coalition and other Neighborhood Councils in strongly urging that the Board of Water and Power Commissioners and the City Council not consider or act upon the proposed water and power rate increases until the Ratepayers
Advocate is established and has thoroughly reviewed and analyzed the proposed rate increases and presented such review and analysis to the Ratepayers and the public for their careful consideration.
3. The __________ Neighborhood Council SUPPORTS the motion, as introduced by Councilman Englander (Council file# 11-0452-S4) calling for the OPA to review the current DWP rate increase proposal.
The _______ Neighborhood Council OPPOSES any rate increases until the Ratepayers Advocate has reviewed and analyzed these rate increases and discussed the review and analysis with the Ratepayers and the public.
4. The _____ Neighborhood Council AUTHORIZES the filing of a COMMUNITY IMPACT
STATEMENT to Council File# 11- 0452-S4 declaring the above.
