Rescue Pets of the Week

If you need a cuddle buddy, running partner, or a critter companion, check out these local pets available for adoption.

Thinking about adding a furry friend to your family? Consider rescuing a pet from an L.A. Animal Services shelter.

The North Central Division serves Hollywood residents seeking to adopt and picks up lost pets in the area.

The pets included in our photo gallery are just a sample of the many that are available in their online adopt-a-pet database. Descriptions in the photo captions are provided by the shelter's Facebook page.

Typically the maximum cost for a resident to adopt a dog is $122. The maximum for a cat is $76. The fee includes vaccinations, spaying/neutering, microchipping and, for dogs, the first year license fee.

If you adopt a pet from a city shelter this weekend (Nov. 5-6), a dog will cost $83.50 and a cat, $50.50. In addition, any animal that has the color black will get an additional $20 off the discounted fee thanks to Basic Black, a program sponsored by the Pet Care Foundation / PETS 90210.
