The Creative Elite Revolutionizes Music Education for Today’s Emerging Artist

The Creative Elite is an exciting new company that aims to revolutionize education in the creative industry. For many young creatives who want to make a career in the music industry, attending a contemporary music school for a year or more seems like the only answer. But for artistic minded people, sitting in a class of 32 and listening to a lecturer while taking notes may not be the best way to learn – and may explain why around 48% of music students drop out after their first year (http://colleges.findthebest.com). Their attention dwindles, many get lost, and ultimately a lot of time and money gets wasted.

While there is definitely some merit to the traditional route, there is nothing in the market today that gives emerging artists the opportunity to really jump into the deep end and learn hands-on in real songwriting and recording sessions, while also developing their knowledge of the business behind being an independent artist.

That’s where CE comes in:

CE have thrown the traditional teaching model away and come up with a new approach. They bring talented artists into real-world, hands-on sessions to be mentored, one on one, by top professionals in the music industry. Mentors for 2013 included producer/writer Erik “Blu2th” Griggs, who wrote the Jordin Sparks and Chris Brown hit, “No Air;” producer/writer Casey K, who has been featured on MTV and ESPN, and has toured the globe; and sound engineer Mike Boden, who has worked with everyone from Linkin Park to D’Angelo. 

CE’s courses mean no more classrooms, no more huge classes – instead, students are part of small groups of just 10–13 students, and get direct attention and practical experience, plus a professionally mixed and mastered recording to take home and use in their own promotion – and all at a fraction of the time and money required to attend music colleges.

The courses are open to talented singer-songwriters, rappers, musicians, producers and engineers who are serious about learning what it takes to independently forge a path to success in the music industry. As well as learning from the instructors, CE bring in industry legends to speak to students about A&R, branding, marketing, touring and more.

CE are driven by the desire to reach as many creative individuals as possible to realize their potential as an independent artist, and ultimately assist in a life-changing evolution, so they have done everything they can to keep the cost of their courses as low as possible. As of February 10 2014, CE will also be offering a scholarship that will give one emerging artist the chance to take the course for free.

Although a small and relatively new company, CE have already donated a portion of their 2013 profits to VH1 Save the Music, and as they expand in the future they are looking to align with other charities around the world that give less fortunate, talented creatives the same opportunities to become successful.
