L.A. Transportation Committee to Discuss Beachwood Drive Wednesday

The committee will discuss a preferential parking district in the Beachwood Canyon area as well as 10-seat shuttle service to transport visitors to Griffith Park.

The Los Angeles Transportation Committee will be meeting on Wednesday at 2 p.m. to discuss issues directly related to the Hollywood, Los Feliz and Beachwood Canyon communities.

The committee will be discussing a preferential parking district (PPD) in the Beachwood Canyon area as well as a 10-seat shuttle service to transport visitors to and from Griffith Park. Councilman Tom LaBonge said, via an email blast sent Friday, he will introduce a motion direct the Department of Transportation to study the options.

In the email, Labonge said the agendized items for the Transportation Committee were a direct result of a “working group meeting” that convened last week.

According to minutes from the meeting, the working group, who met last Thursday, discussed a variety of issues including a desire for more enforcement, transportation related issues and communication/gps/social media. However, they also discussed a variety of solutions including the PPD, the shuttle (which is not a DASH bus) and a potential aerial tramway.

A special motion was passed on Friday in the LA City Council affirming commitment to providing assistance, especially in traffic control services, for the Hollywood Hills. The email said LADOT officers were reinstated by the Griffith Park entrance at Sunset Ranch over the weekend.
