UPDATED: Pedestrian Killed on the 101 in Hollywood

A pedestrian was killed today on the southbound Hollywood (101) Freeway in the Hollywood area, authorities said.

The man died at the scene of his injury, which occurred shortly before 5 a.m. near Highland Avenue, said California Highway Patrol Officer Monica Posada.

The motorist remained at the scene, Posada said. Three southbound lanes were blocked while an investigation was conducted. All lanes were reopened about 7:40 a.m., the CHP reported.
