Police said the car was weaving through traffic on Western, hit the pedestrian and then slammed into a tree. Witnesses at the scene said two men, believed to be in their 20s, stumbled out of the car and ran off. A broadcast report indicated that the men may have been in a rental car and jumped into a second rental vehicle a short distance from the crash.
