One Dead and One Critically Wounded in Party Bus Shooting

The shooting occurred at 11:45 p.m. Friday. Both victims were passengers on a party bus, which arrived in Hollywood from Compton.

Two people have been arrested in connection with the murder of one man, and critical wounding of a second, in a party bus outside the Hollywood Palladium just before midnight, police said Saturday.

Los Angeles police officer Sally Madera of the Media Relations Section said detectives would release no further information. "It's an ongoing investigation," Madera said.

Gunshots were fired at 11:45 p.m. Friday near Sunset Boulevard and El Centro Avenue, between Vine Street and the Hollywood (101) Freeway. That location is across the street from the Hollywood Palladium, said Sgt. Enrique Mendoza of the Los Angeles Police Department's Hollywood Station.

When officers arrived, one of the men was down alongside a party bus and the other was a few feet away, Mendoza said.

Both men were passengers on the bus, which arrived in Hollywood from Compton, and allegedly got into a fight that led to the shooting, according to witnesses interviewed on KCBS/KCAL.

Both victims were taken to a hospital, where the unidentified man died, he said.

Sunset Boulevard was closed much of the night between Gower Street and Argyle Avenue as police investigated the shooting, Mendoza said.
