An officer-involved shooting in East Hollywood that left a suspect wounded is under investigation.

The shooting happened around 9:50 p.m. Friday in the 500 block of North Madison Avenue, just south of Melrose Avenue, said Lt. Wes Buhrmester, watch commander of the Los Angeles Police Department's Rampart Station.

Officers were responding to reports of a family dispute when the shooting occurred, he said.

No officers were injured.

The wounded suspect, a man, was in surgery Saturday morning and listed in serious condition, Buhrmester said.

The LAPD's Force Investigation Division was investigating the shooting, which will also be investigated by the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office and the county Office of Independent Review, as is standard in such cases.
