The fire was reported at 7:43 p.m. at 1912 N. Carmen Ave., according to Los Angeles fire information officer Brian Humphrey.
Arriving firefighters saw flames in a single room in the back of the two-story fourplex, Humphrey said.
It took 39 firefighters about 10 minutes to knock down the blaze, Humphrey said.
