Man Said He Was Shot in Head While Driving in Cahuenga Pass

The driver is listed in serious condition at a hospital after he was able to get his car to a gas station in the 3:30 a.m. incident Saturday shooting.

A man shot in the head early Saturday while driving through the Cahuenga Pass was able to drive to a gas station, police said.

The shooting apparently occurred on northbound Cahuenga Boulevard about 3:30 a.m., and the wounded driver got his white Cadillac Escalade to a Mobil station at Barham Boulevard, according to a Los Angeles police officer at the North Hollywood Station.

Paramedics took the victim to Cedars-Sinai hospital, where he was listed in serious condition, Sgt. Mike Kammert said.

The victim told police one of several people in a black sport utility vehicle, either an Escalade or a Chevrolet Suburban, opened fire on him, Kammert said. The man appeared to be in shock and gave some other conflicting information, the sergeant added.

The bullet that hit the man apparently passed through a headrest, Kammert said. Police withheld the wounded man's name. He was believed to be in his 30s.
