LAPD to Conduct Saturation Patrol in Hollywood Friday Night

The patrol will last from 5 p.m. Friday to 1 a.m. Saturday.

The Los Angeles Police Department will be hosting a series of sobriety and driver’s license checkpoints and saturation patrols throughout the City this weekend including a Saturation Patrol in Hollywood.

The DUI Saturation Patrol will take place in Hollywood from 5 p.m. Friday to 1 a.m. Saturday.

In 2011, nearly 10,000 people were killed nationally in motor vehicle traffic collisions involving at least one operator with a blood alcohol concentration of .08 percent or higher, according to a LAPD press release.

“DUI Checkpoints have been an essential part of the phenomenal reduction in DUI deaths that we witnessed since 2006 in California,” said Christopher J. Murphy, Director of the Office of Traffic Safety, in a written statement.  “But since the tragedy of DUI accounts for nearly one third of traffic fatalities, Los Angeles needs the high visibility enforcement and public awareness that checkpoints provide.”

  • On Wilshire Boulevard at Comstock Avenue in Westwood from 8 p.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Saturday.
  • On Venutra Boulevard at Columbus Avenue in Sherman Oaks from 8 p.m. Saturday to 2 a.m. Sunday.
  • On Roscoe Boulevard at Gloria Avenue in North Hills from 8 p.m. Sunday to 2 a.m. Monday.
