Music Exec Wounded in Hollywood Shooting Dies

John Atterberry, 40, shot in the jaw and upper torso by a gunman on Friday, died of his wounds Monday, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center reports.

A music-industry executive who was shot by a gunman firing at motorists in a Hollywood intersection on Friday has died.

John Atterberry, 40, died shortly before 5 p.m. Monday, according to Simi Singer, spokeswoman for Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Atterberry was sitting in his Mercedes at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Vine Street when he was shot multiple times. The gunman shot him in the face and upper torso, police said. Atterberry was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Atterberry was identified as a longtime recording industry manager and promoter who has worked with recording artists Brandy, the Spice Girls and Jessica Simpson.

The gunman, Tyler Brehm, was after he was seen shooting at drivers and pedestrians in the intersection around 10:15 a.m. Friday, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

"I was shocked to hear the news," Courtney Barnes, a publicist for Smokey Robinson and Ron Artest who worked with Atterberry, told Billboard. Barnes said Atterberry was "a really nice guy."
