Hollywood Man Arrested on Suspicion of Burglary

Police arrest a man who was seen breaking into a garage in Venice Monday.

A 24-year-old Hollywood man was behind bars today after allegedly being seen burglarizing a garage in Venice, authorities said.

Officers from the Los Angeles Police Department's Pacific Division saw the man driving a pickup truck into an attached garage in the 100 block of Galleon Street about 9 a.m. on Monday, according to police.

The man was seen loading such items as a 42-inch flat television screen, two large paintings, a microwave and suitcases. When the suspect saw the officers, he drove away, authorities said.

He was followed by the officers and arrested.

Los Angeles Police Department Sgt. Mitza Fierro identified the suspect as Cory Johnson, who was being held on $50,000 bail. A court date has not been set.
