The speeding SUV clipped a BMW on Sunday around midnight and rolled over several times.

At least five people were injured when a speeding SUV clipped a BMW on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood and rolled over several times, ejecting one passenger, police said Monday.

The accident occurred on Sunset Boulevard near Gardner Street around 11:55 p.m. Sunday, said Sgt. J. Barkley of the Los Angeles Police Department's Hollywood Station.

There were five people in the Ford Explorer that clipped the BMW and rolled, Barkley said.

A man was ejected from one of the passenger seats and suffered traumatic injuries and road rash, he said, and the woman who had been driving the Explorer and two other passengers went to the hospital with "visible injuries and complaints of pain."

The two people in the BMW also complained of pain, he said, but "none of the injuries were life-threatening," he said.

There was a handgun inside the Explorer, and Barkley said officers were checking to see if a vehicle or suspects matching the description of the Explorer or its occupants had been involved in a crime.

"Officers are still working to determine if there is any criminal culpability," he said early Monday.
