Franklin Village Festival Returns Sunday

The free community event offers food, fun and showcases local artists while also serving as a fundraiser for local groups.

It is the time of year again for the Franklin Village Festival, and this year’s festival aims to keep up traditions and add new features.

The annual event will feature artists, live music and a variety of arts and craft vendors, including clothing and leather goods sellers from 12-8 p.m. on Sunday.

There will also be giveaways and a “Garden of Art” for visitors 21 and over, said J.D. Posey, an organizer. Twenty-percent of each piece of art sold will be donated to the festival, Posey said.

New to the festival will be a singer/songwriter showcase featuring acoustic acts. It will take place at the at 5931 Franklin Ave. and will feature singers performing original tunes either a cappella or with minimal accompaniment.

The goal of the event is "to raise awareness for charities and also camaraderie for people who live in the area," Posey said. "It's a very artistic area and a very community area."
