Week in Review: Alleged Hate Crime Investigation, Papaya King and a Redevelopment Project

A case of burglary and arson, a new eatery and a missing Hollywood Walk of Fame star that was returned to officials are among the top stories in Hollywood for April 9 - 16.

1. Officials were called to a scene of burglary and arson at the Temple Israel of Hollywood on Thursday. Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Jaime Moore and Councilman Tom LaBonge called the case a hate crime because it happened at a church. Investigators released surveillance video of the suspect as he was caught entering and leaving the synagogue Thursday morning.

2. It's official: Papaya King, a New York-based hot dog eatery, is making its west coast debut in Hollywood. on Wednesday the location under construction at Wilcox Avenue and Hollywood Boulevard will open in mid-2011.

3. A building owner is retail, restaurant and office space as well as a four-story parking garage to a property at Hollywood Boulevard and North Hudson Ave. An attorney for the building owner approached the Central Hollywood Neighborhood Council's Planning and Land Use Management Committee for support of the project on Monday.

4. A that went unnoticed for 40 years was returned to its Hollywood home on Monday. The Chamber of Commerce’s Ana Martinez shared the unusual story with Hollywood Patch in the a video.

5. Children's Hospital Los Angeles held it's second annual "Let's Conquer Kid's Cancer" at Dillon's Irish Pub in Hollywood on April 9. The event drew 23 volunteers who said goodbye to their hair in an effort to raise funds for pediatric cancer research.
