Viewfinder: Hiking to the Top of Mount Lee

Patch puts on some hiking boots and takes a trek to one of the highest peaks in the Santa Monica Mountains—and home to the Hollywood sign.

The hike up to the top of Mount Lee, home of the iconic Hollywood sign, is about five miles round trip if you start from the Canyon Drive entrance to Griffith Park. The hike starts with a rather inclined trail, then opens up to a flat, winding fire access road, but then the immediate approach to the top is once again steep.

But the views of Los Angeles and Burbank—not to mention the Hollywood sign—definitely make it worth the trip.
