Overheard: 'Gangster Squad' on Hollywood Boulevard

For the last couple nights Hollywood Boulevard was dressed to look like a scene from the 1940s.

The hints lingered around town: classic cars stored in the United Hollywood Methodist Church parking lot and movie posters for the John Wayne movie She Wore a Yellow Ribbon hung outside Grauman's Chinese Theatre.

Some residents wrote to us about the sound of gunfire and the faint smell of gunsmoke that traveled into the Hollywood Hills.

Twitter user @bwesto captured footage during the movie shoot of shots fired in the forecourt of the Chinese Theatre.

There are also photos and video making rounds on the Internet of Ryan Gosling on the set.
