Summer Concert Series Kicks Off at Hollywood and Highland

The ninth annual Wine, Jazz and Moonlight Summer Concert Series kicks off Tuesday at the .
The mall, along with radio station KJazz 88.1 FM, is sponsoring the free concert.
The event is a popular one. More than 13,000 people attended last year's summer concert series, according to Hollywood and Highland Center spokeswoman Sheryl Craig.

A host of bands is scheduled to perform this summer, including the Luis Conte Ensemble, Western Standard Time, Brian Auger's Oblivion Express and the Pete Escovedo Latin Jazz Orchestra.
Seating is on a first-come basis. There will also be a wine bar and appetizers available for a donation of $10. All of the proceeds will benefit Project Angel Food, an organization that provides free meals to people with serious illnesses, including HIV and AIDS.

The band, Jose Rizo's Mongorama, is scheduled to perform tonight at 7 p.m. in the mall’s central courtyard. The series ends Aug. 28.
