Attendance for "Captain Phillips," another adult-oriented drama, dropped only 33 percent this week, according to Hollywood.com Box Office. The Tom Hanks vehicle clung to second place with a $17.3 million weekend and $53.3 million over two weeks.
A "re-imaging" of the classic horror movie "Carrie" -- also called "Carrie" -- opened in third place with $17 million in receipts.

Rounding out the 10 most-popular films in the United States and Canada, as estimated by the studios, were "Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs 2" ($10.1 million), "Escape Plan" (opening at $9.8 million), "Prisoners" ($2 million), "Enough Said" ($1.8 million), "The Fifth Estate" (opening at $1.7 million), "Runner, Runner" ($1.6 million) and "Insidious: Chapter 2" ($1.5 million).
