Academy Awards Preparations In Full Swing

With less than one week away, the setup for Hollywood's biggest event of the year is underway, as additional presenters are announced.

Along with , there is no mistaking that Oscar preparations are well under way around the Kodak Theatre and Hollywood & Highland.

Over the weekend, a temporary pedestrian bridge was installed across Hollywood Boulevard, along with a number of elevated bleachers. Tourists took the opportunity Monday to pose alongside what will become the red carpet and signage featuring the famous Oscar statue.

Inside the Renaissance Hollywood Hotel, multiple floors have been locked down to only Academy Awards production staff and press.

In the last week, telecast producers Bruce Cohen and Don Mischer announced an additional four presenters at this year's Academy Awards: Reese Witherspoon, Cate Blanchett, Scarlett Johansson, and Russell Brand.

Of note, Witherspoon won an Oscar for her leading role in 2005's Walk the Line, and Blanchett, a five time nominee, won the Academy Award for her supporting role playing Katherine Hepburn in 2004's The Aviator (Hepburn herself won four Oscars out of twelve lifetime nominations).

Previously, Cohen and  Mischer announced that Nicole Kidman, Jude Law, Tom Hanks, Annette Bening, Robert Downey, Jr., and Hugh Jackman would be presenting during this year's ceremony with actors James Franco and Anne Hathaway serving as c0-hosts.

Original song nominees will be played live the artists who performed the songs in the films. Gwyneth Paltrow will sing "Coming Home" from Country Strong; Mandy Moore and Zachary Levi will join composer Alan Menken, on piano, for a performance of "I See the Light" from Tangled; from Toy Story 3, Randy Newman will sing "We Belong Together" and A.R. Rahman will perform “If I Rise” from 127 Hours, with Florence Welch filling in for Dido, who sang in the recording used for the film.

The Academy Awards air live to more than 200 countries worldwide on Sunday, Feb. 27 at the Kodak Theatre, at Hollywood & Highland in Hollywood.
