Weekend Planner: Shakespeare at Griffith Park, Family Fun at Hollywood Library and Mona Simpson's 'My Hollywood'

Why go: If you want to spend a fun day with the family, then head on over to your local library for fun, family activities. There will be stories, songs, and dancing for kids and parents to enjoy.

3. Egyptian Theatre Historic Tour and a Film Screening of Forever Hollywood

Where/When:  , 6712 Hollywood Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90028. Saturday, July 9, at 10:30 a.m.

Why go: The informative and fun Egyptian Theatre Historic Tour is the perfect way to celebrate Hollywood history. You will see the old dressing rooms, the singers' boxes, the projection booth and so much more of the legendary 1922 Egyptian Theatre. For the ultimate “old Hollywood” experience, enjoy a film screening of Forever Hollywood directed by Todd McCarthy and Arnold Glassman, after the tour.

4. Public Star Parties for 2011

Why go:  The Public Star Party gives everyone a chance to look at the sun, moon, visible planets and other objects. You can look through telescopes and talk to knowledgeable astronomers. For all those curious minds, who want to know more beyond the skies, this is a great, informative event to attend.

5. Autry Book Club for Mona Simpson's book My Hollywood

Where/When:  Autry Museum 4730 Crystal Springs Dr, Los Angeles, 90027 Sunday, July 10, at 2 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Why go: The Autry Book Club presents a lecture by Mona Simpson on her book My Hollywood.  The story is about a new mother in Los Angeles who learns a thing or two about life from her immigrant nanny. The book is a perfect example of the Hollywood lifestyle and sounds like an interesting read.
