Remodel Planned for Cafe des Artistes
The cafe's new owners are undergoing the permit process and gained a recommendation from the Central Hollywood Neighborhood Council's planning committee Monday.
Looks like plans are in the works for a revival of Cafe des Artistes.
The Central Hollywood Neighborhood Council’s Planning and Land Use Management committee, got a look at the plans and voted Monday night in favor of a remodel for the restaurant that closed in May.
The new conditional use permit would allow for the addition of 889-square-feet to the existing restaurant, which is 1,734-square-feet.

The restaurant’s new owners aim to expand the kitchen by more than 20 percent, and the current permit “doesn’t reflect having a bar even though a bar has been there for 20 years,” said David Carrera, chairman of the PLUM committee.
The committee recommended supporting the plans for a number of reasons.
“They’ve been there a long time,” Carrera said. “They’ve had zero problems.”

The PLUM committee’s recommendation is scheduled to go before the board of the Central Hollywood Neighborhood Council in two weeks.
