Hollywood Today: John Lasseter to Receive Star on Walk of Fame

Also: A portion of Hollywood Boulevard will be closed today for an event at Grauman's Chinese Theatre.

Two-time Academy Award-winning director John Lasseter, who creatively oversees all films and associated projects from Walt Disney and Pixar Animation Studios, will receive the 2,453rd star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at 11:30 a.m. in front of the El Capitan Theatre, 6834 Hollywood Blvd.

Bonnie Hunt is scheduled to speak. The Walk of Fame Facebook page revealed on Monday that guests at the ceremony include Cheech Marin, Emily Mortimer, Patton Oswalt, John Ratzenberger, Don Rickles, Owen Wilson and Randy Newman who has composed music for six of the Pixar films and Brad Paisley who sang and wrote songs for Cars.

  • The National Weather Service has issued a dense fog warning throughout Los Angeles County, including Hollywood. The advisory is in effect through 9 a.m. With reduced visibility, use caution while driving.
  • The north curb lane of Hollywood Boulevard between Highland Avenue and Orange Drive will be closed Tuesday for The Chipmunks' hand and footprint ceremony at Grauman’s Chinese Theatre, according to Navigate Hollywood. The south curb lane from Orange Drive to the mid-block crosswalk will be closed from 2 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • has expanded its hours to include weekdays. The gourmet taco eatery is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. On Monday, Komida debuted its seasonal pumpkin taco. The seasonal taco includes roasted pumpkin, caramelized onion, garlic, spiced pepitas, and Myer's Rum creme fraiche. There’s a happy hour special every weekday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with $2 chicken satay tacos and half-off carafes and beer buckets.
  • Space 15 Twenty is expanding their Street Team. Members will receive special discounts at the Urban Outfitters location on Cahuenga Boulevard, VIP invites to shows and freebies. Visit their website for details on how to join their team.
