Hollywood Sign Makeover Passes Halfway Point
Five of the nine letters are ready for their close up.
Efforts to restore the Hollywood Sign have passed the halfway mark.
Crews have been working since Oct. 2 and recently completed sprucing up the H, O, L, L and Y letters.
The W has already received primer and crews will be painting it soon.

The restoring process involves stripping down the letters, applying primer and placing two coats Sherwin-Williams Emerald Exterior paint in "high reflective white."
The new coat resists blemishes like bubbling, peeling and dirt.

When the project was announced, it was estimated to be completed in eight to ten weeks.
