What do you do? I procrastinate a lot and I drink. I go to the post office. I go to the library.  Get a haircut. See a movie. I read the newspaper. Officially, I’m a writer. I write science fiction.

Stories? Books? All of the above. Used to write a lot of stories for magazines, not as much now.  People don’t buy magazines anymore.

What brought you to Hollywood? Some might say Providence, could be just bad luck.

Bad luck? Well, like a lot of people, I have written my share of motion pictures so I came here from Florida to write movies. Hasn’t turned out so well. Had some of my ideas appropriated, but that’s to be expected. You make this bed, you sleep in it.

I love Hollywood. Been here almost 30 years now. It’s my town. Got my buddies here. Got some girlfriends here.

You drink here at the ? Best bar in L.A. Well, it’s the only bar. The only real one. You can get a real drink here, have a conversation, hear some music, kill some time.

What do you think of the changes Hollywood has gone through? Hollywood is always changing, always has been, always will. Anyone says they don’t like the changes, they don’t understand Hollywood. Hollywood is change. It’s a mirror. You look in a mirror, you see something different everytime. Nothing is static. Everything is changing, growing, aging, dying. People, stars, it’s all the same.

Sure, prices are higher, everything costs more everywhere. But that’s America, not just Hollywood. I don’t have a car anymore, don’t need one. Where am I gonna go? I live over on Wilcox and Yucca. I rent. I don't have a computer,  I don't do email. Got everything I need here in this neighborhood. Spend the morning working, writing, rewriting. Then I got the rest of my day. And the night. And in the night there is mystery and music and maybe even love. And that's enough, isn't it?
