Chick-fil-A Fans Camp Out in Hollywood

Nearly 200 fans pitch tents overnight at the new Hollywood Chick-fil-A for a grand opening promotion.

Some came from Arizona and as far away as Florida to stand in line for free chicken on Wednesday.

About 175 faithful enthusiasts showed up at the corner of Sunset Avenue and Highland Avenue just one day before the grand opening of the Hollywood Chick-fil-A, said spokesperson Cindy Chapman.

The first 100 in line at 6 a.m. received white wristbands to indicate they will, indeed, get a year’s supply worth of coupons for free Chick-fil-A meals. The catch is they must stay on the property all night.

Richard Coley, who flew in from St. Petersburg, Florida, has traveled coast-to-coast for such occasions with his Chick-fil-A-inspired tent. The Hollywood location marks his 68th Chick-fil-A grand opening.

“I love the products, the food, and I’m very impressed with their people from the kitchen help all the way up to the corporate office,” Coley said.

He spent the day palling around with his new friend, Victor Woolworth, who traveled from Northern California for the opening.

“It’s fun hanging out,” Woolworth said. “You meet a lot of people, and there’s great people watching. They feed you all day.”

There are free meals as well as a scheduled ice cream party and a DJ. Fans say the food as well as the camaraderie make it all worth it.

Coley even plans to stop by Utah on the way home for one more grand opening.

“I’m a fanatical, raving fan and supporter of Chick-fil-A,” he said.
