The world famous Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is the home of the Academy Awards, also known as theMore Oscars.  The building itself is a large monolithic structure with glass doors and a fountain.  Palm trees and landscaping decorate the main entrance. The main lobby is round with two 15-foot Oscars guarding the Dunn Theater auditorium entrance. The Academy building was built in 1947 and was named after Mary Pickford, a silent film star and founding member. The Mary Pickford Center houses the Dunn Theater, the Academy Film Archive and the Science and Technology Council. The Academy building also houses a TV studio, where the Johnny Carson Show, Barney Miller and the Newlywed Game were shot.

TCL Chinese Theatre is a historic movie theater, located on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, which has hosted many movieMore premiers and other special events including three Academy Awards ceremonies. The theater itself has a capacity of 1152 and features an array of decadent Chinese-style decor, with the exterior designed in the style of a large red Chinese pagoda. TCL Chinese Theatre shows current-release movies on its single screen; additionally, tours of the theater are offered during normal business hours.
