Take away all the parking meters. That would increase sales tax revenues. People would spend moreRead More money on shopping and other services. Right now people go to other cities, Burbank and Glendale that give free parking. Policitians can not think outside the box. Instead they just find more ways to tax and get rid of businesses.

It's all about the tax incentives. Hello??? It's called the bottom line for a reason. $$$ is theRead More dealbreaker, not meaningless amenities. Look at all the states who have great incentives in place, production there is boomed. Take away those financial incentives and the business goes to where they are (talking to you, Susanna Martinez Gov. of New Mexico who singlehandedly destroyed that film industry by eradicating the prior governor's great incentive program). The argument that the state loses too much revenue by putting tax incentives in place is short sighted -- a fully running production brings in so much more money than they are being exempted from in taxes. The positive economic ripple effects are so vast. And let's face it, in So Cal, film workers have been the middle class ever since the aerospace industry evaporated. So now the middle class created by the motion picture industry is evaporating. Again, we need significant tax incentives in place to halt runaway production.

Tax incentives wont happen because the City of LA runs on a thin revenue margin as there is onlyRead More about 5 percent of revenue to play with..the rest goes to excessive public worker pensions and salaries...all the politicians can give you taxpayers is lip service and lies until they pension out...but deep inside they know that the train has already left the station...The major studios have already built studios abroad in cities like in Vancouver etc....While the movie deals might continue in LA, with CGI and virtual studios..Major film production will never come back to LA as it was...Again thank the greedy LA public sector that killed the economic environment here in exchange for extracting as much public money for self enrichment as they could..Sort of the other coin of those "evil" banksters..the only difference was, with our city, we had no choice when the public unions pillaged the tax coffers........ See you in 10 years when LA's tax base evaporates and the city will becomes a city with no middle class, like a Mexico City by the sea..A city that has only rich and those poor that work for them...

I've always loved Sally, I watched all her shows as a kid, then when I moved to LA she was aRead More customer at the store where I worked. One of the kindest and most down-to-earth people I've ever dealt with. She truly deserves huge amounts of respect and admiration.

She deserves a star on the Hollywood walk of fame for sure but many have not earned that honor yetRead More they get one ie Jennifer Lopez. J-Lo got is a celebrity for the most part. She has done some forgettable romantic comedies with equally forgettable music. No Academy award, no Emmy award..... She may have one some kind of awards for this or that but not the big ones and that is what should be required to have a place on the Hollywood walk of fame. CHER barely got her star in 2011. She has won many big awards including a best actress award, Grammy, Emmy etc...... She has also been famous throughout her life since a teenager. She was deserving of this special honor many years ago

I really wanted to see a female break through that glass ceiling. There are plenty to choose fromRead More who would have been perfect. Colbert came out of left field for me. I'm sure that salary played a huge part in the decision. Nevertheless, Colbert is funny, intelligent and I'm happy for him. The Jimmy's may not be thrilled.
Shripathi Kamath April 11, 2014 at 10:02 am
I tend to agree, mimi. Tina Fey would have been as good as Colbert. Joan Rivers would have beenRead More perfect once Johnny was ousted (not so much now), but then he blackballed her. Incidentally, Colbert's contract is not cheap. He probably makes more than Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel or Conan.
Bob Perkins DDS April 11, 2014 at 09:52 pm
great point...as great as Colbert is, and he is a Titan of comedy, Tina might have even beenRead More better.... I feel like she wouldn't take that gig anyways....but I could be wrong.....how refreshing it would have been to have Tina Fey...hosting a late night show...... my guess is that Colbert takes lots of market share from Kimmel and Fallon....I don't think (my opinions) those guys can carry his laundry...

I'm shocked! Ellen was a dreadful host. The years winners where undeserving as per usual. RemindedRead More me of the year when Pia Zadora who the Golden Globe for best actress. Sexy bubble head Matthew Mcconaughey did a see how bad I can look film and suddenly he's a serious actor. Expect other average at best actors to do the same to get the same kind of recognition. Jake Gyllenhaal has a film coming out where he lost a bunch of weight and let himself go all to be taken seriously as an actor.
