Let's remember that the City Council had proposed a new 2 acre Regional Fire Station for Hollywood,Read More but Garcetti's wanted the property for a mixed-use project. Thus, Garcetti had the city council go in to closed session and he and LeBonge killed the 2 acre FS 82 and replaced it with a 1/2 acre fire station in Gridlock Hell -- the intersection of Hollywood Blvd, the 101 Freeway and Van Ness. The smaller station and new location increased the response times to the Hills, not does Garcetti ever have any money to improve the roads in the Hills. While fires can be spectacular, the Hills face a more constant danger. After Garcetti cut $200 Million from the paramedics and firefighters, it takes the paramedics longer to get to people, especially in the Hills, and the County Grand Jury found that as a result, people have needlessly died. Rather than give $67 M to the LAFD, Garcetti gave $67 M to Korean Airlines.

Wasn't that during the Blood Moon eclipse? Observers must have been smoking - not allowed in theRead More high brush hillside areas but who was watching, anyhow?

It is interesting the way CTTV video always disappears or "wasn't working" whenever theRead More owner or his security people do something wrong.

What a joke they're making of this. The reason for this crash is California's criminal negligence.Read More Obviously the "distance" between opposing traffic traveling at 80 MPH doesn't matter. A "K" rail between the two vehicles would have PREVENTED this crash, undoubtedly. But Ca. would rather pay their public criminals outrages salaries, than invest a little of that money on HIGHWAY SAFETY. I hope all the families of the crash victims know that they need to SUE THE HELL OUT OF the state of California .
Stoked April 14, 2014 at 09:00 am
It's all about $$$$$. No K rails or bigger trucks. If you think that double trailers are scary youRead More might want to steer clear of Oregon mountain highways where FedEx tows triples.
Henry Xavier April 14, 2014 at 12:49 pm
I think the texting, messaging may be a big part of this accident. Please don't drive and use aRead More electronic device. Profesional or a 17 year old girl driving dads truck. Its very scary. I see it all the time. She has it planted on the windshield in her view next to the steering wheel. peace.

BG777; Your "truth", my "truth"; it's all in the mind of the beholder, bud. IRead More trust you're not driving while talking to God on your cell phone(?).
BLUESGUITAR777 April 16, 2014 at 12:28 pm
@SPH - LOL... so by that notion if I believe the sky is really green with yellow polka-dots thenRead More that's the truth/my truth? No 'bud', there is only one Truth and all else is a lie. I will not continue to argue on this thread however, out of respect for the victims, so we're done here.

I think Penny Are'valo has allot to learn. There is a learning curve for all of us regarding herRead More responses. However Do you think the drivers may have been texting while driving at the time of the accident. This may help

GreenInOC April 13, 2014 at 07:27 pm
@Henry Xavier, next time you claim someone is deficient in their education you might want to useRead More spell check. On another note, you ask (at least I think you are asking), if anyone thinks that the drivers were texting, then claim "This may help" (sic). How does that help?

..."one of two students at Banning High School in Wilmington who was sitting in the back rowRead More told NBC4 the impact was sudden, extremely painful and immediately ignited a fire." This is horrific... but, the first thing that came to my mind - I'm sure SEAT BELTS were nowhere to be seen. Just a metal tomb where bodies get tossed around like packages. WHY does “Click It or Ticket” not apply to buses. School buses in particular - although Metro buses ought to require them also. Is it that seat belts cost too much money? How much is a life worth? The medical bills incurred in this crash could probably install seat belts in 1000 buses. The minimum ticket cost of an adult seat belt violation in California is $142 and up, and a minimum of $445 for not properly restraining a child under 16. If the parent is not in the car, the driver gets the ticket. Who gets this ticket?

Since none of you above are lawyers nor have you read the complete complaint, how do you know thisRead More is just a money grab or unfounded? I was let go from a job once and my boss, during the exit interview mentioned by spiritual practice and that she really respected me professionally but not personally. I *could* have sued because it was clear to me..after months of chatter...that I was being let go partially in part because of my spiritual practice(not Christian) and partially because they had to cut a staff person to save money. Why not cut the "heathen"
lorrie mcvicker April 9, 2014 at 12:20 pm
don't forget there are two sides to every story. Both probably have good reasons.
Mary A April 9, 2014 at 10:06 pm
Sorry, I'm a Christian, but I side with the Wiccans based on the information in this article. No oneRead More should be forced to be involved in religious ceremony as part of required workplace training, or retaliated against because they voiced their opposition. I have a lot of respect for the LAPD and for all people and places of worship that do good works. But on this one the LAPD blew it.

Gosh! Who do we know who to picket. It was a ball game.....one side wins, one side loses.....get over it. The point to be taken hereRead More is sportsmanship, respect and tolerance were obviously missing. Yes, I also listened to the Mayor Garcetti, then councilman of CD 13, lie about his saferRead More Hollywood..at every Mayoral debate.. In addition to the stabbing reported here, over the week end there was: a stabbing at 4:00A.M. sunday morning, a beating with a pipe outside the Jack in the Box on Sunset..among other violent crimes . It's hard to keep up with, and interesting how most of the Hollywood crime falls under the radar and is not even reported, so the powers that be can keep saying how crime is down in Hollywood, lest they jeopardize their beloved Tourist trade.. Seriously? Welcome to Eric Garcetti's Hollywood https://twitter.com/HollywoodLA311

City Council Agenda Wednesday..Hollywood Community Plan Item #4...How our corrupt city politicosRead More will try to go around and basically thumb their noses at that Judge's ruling against The Hollywood Community Plan. Why doesn't HOLLYWOOD Patch cover this stuff??..It affects the future of HOLLYWOOD! http://ens.lacity.org/clk/councilagendas/clkcouncilagendas386863_04022014.pdf About that Judge's ruling against the nightmare Hollywood Community Plan:..O'Farrell made an amendment to it.. It passed at The (ALL MILLENNIUM FUNDED)Plum Committee last week, and is going to (MANY MILLENNIUM FUNDED) City Council on Wednesday. Dear HOLLYWOOD Patch, why don't you cover these political machinations and let your readers know what the sleaze bag city council and mayor are up to..TV news won't..L.A. Times barely.. Beverly Press is about the only paper and sometimes L.A. Weekly. This cancer of corruption festers and grows because hardly anyone knows what they are up to..and they like it that way. Easier that way, to turn over our city to developers and screw The people over and over..and circumvent a JUDGE'S RULING! Most of L.A. does not have a clue..If they did..Garcetti never would be where he is. Most Hollywoodians don't even find stuff out about Garcetti's developer's projects that will greatly impact their communities, until they see what is going up all around them..And it is a done deal or too late. Until Judge Goodman ruled against the HCP..The People Triumphed against the corruption, and manipulations, led by Garcetti, to get that thing passed..And now watch how the city leaders will say 'screw you Judge Goodman', and get their developer funder's projects done in spite of his ruling. Bring in the Feds!!

Read it. Who is Michael Bastasch? My first post was fracking with a question mark. Quoting yourRead More article I capped doubt and could because I can't underline it. "The article notes that seismologists DOUBT fracking had anything to do with the LA quake, but environmentalists argue that fracking COULD be a culprit." Something wrong with asking the question?
