Though you might think Mel's Drive-In is about 35 years older than it actually is, that's the point: when it opened in 1985 it was meant to look like a traditional American diner from the 1950's. You can even see what the original San Fransisco Mel's is modeled after in the film American Graffiti. This now-famous location below Hollywood Boulevard on North Highland opened in November of 2001. They serve classic American diner fare like hamburgers and fries, as well as home-style dishes like meatloaf and lasagna.

This location sits in the Max Factor building and shares a wall with the Hollywood History Museum. In the back of Mel's you'll find their Celebrity Bar, a lounge available for private parties, movie sceenings and just hangin' out. No cover but DJ's, happy hour and Monday Night Football available.
