Budacki’s Hot Dog in Exposition Park to Host Fundraiser for Operation School Bell

Operation School Bell helps children stay in school by providing clothing, school supplies and other items for impoverished and homeless children. Budacki's Hot Dog will host a fundraiser for the organization on Saturday, June 28 and Sunday, June 29.

Budacki’s Hot Dog in Los Angeles' Exposition Park will be hosting a fundraiser to benefit Operation School Bell, a program that helps impoverished and homeless children stay in school, by providing them with basic necessities such as school clothes and supplies, grooming kits and more.

"Budacki's is helping Operation School Bell serve the most needy school children as we build a stronger, safer and better educated community for all of us to live in," said Greer Saunders, chairwoman of development for Operation School Bell.

Budacki’s Hot Dog is relatively new to the Los Angeles community; owner Jin Ra opened the location near the USC campus in February, 2014. This is Ra’s 6th restaurant, but his first venture in the Los Angeles restaurant scene.

The original Budacki’s Hot Dog was established in 1962 in Chicago, and continues to serve up Vienna Beef hot dogs, Italian beef, Maxwell Street Polish sausage and other classic Chicago-style food fare, as does its Los Angeles counterpart.

This upcoming fundraiser is another effort that the Los Angeles Budacki’s has made to connect with its community. A recent fundraiser benefitted USC Medlife, which is a non-profit organization that sends USC medical students to Latin America to manage mobile clinics that deliver medicine, education and developmental services.

“We are strong advocates of children, and recognize receiving a solid education is imperative in building a bright future; when we learned about the mission of Operation School Bell, we immediately wanted to support this cause to help Los Angeles school children,” said Ra.

Simply stop by Budacki’s Hot Dog, 3782 S. Figueroa Street in Exposition Park on Saturday, June 28 or Sunday, June 29, 2014 between 10:30 a.m. and 9 p.m. and grab a bite to eat; 15-percent of proceeds will be donated to Operation School Bell to support their mission.

 About Operation School Bell:

Operation School Bell is a service of Anne Banning, an auxiliary of Assistance League of Southern California, which has served children in the Los Angeles community since 1966. The organization relies heavily on donations and support from the community to purchase and distribute clothing, school supplies, grooming kits and more for impoverished/homeless children attending schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District. The goal is to keep these children in school by providing them these basic necessities, to help them build brighter futures through a strong education.
