The Hollywood High girls' basketball team had never advanced beyond the quarterfinals in head coach Lou Herron's previous 10 seasons at the helm.
Make that 11 seasons and counting.
The fourth-seeded Sheiks suffered a 60-49 home loss to fifth-seeded Garfield on Wednesday night in the quarterfinal round of the City Section Division III playoffs, bringing their season to an abrupt end.

Hollywood (18-7), which went undefeated on its way to the Central League title, had needed overtime to get past 13th-seeded Locke, 53-46, in the first round and was unable to cope with the steady full-court pressure employed by the Bulldogs (17-12), who earned a high seed despite their fourth-place finish in the always-tough Eastern League.
The loss snapped the Sheiks' 11-game winning streak and was only their third defeat in 19 games.
