Hollywood High Volleyball Makes City Playoffs

The Sheiks are seeded No. 14 in Division II and travel to No. 3 Eagle Rock on Tuesday.

The City Section boys volleyball playoff seedings were determined Tuesday night and Hollywood High has been awarded the No. 14 seed in Division II. The Sheiks travel to No. 3 Eagle Rock in the first round of the 16-team, single-elimination tournament May 10 at 7 p.m.

If victorious, Hollywood will travel to either sixth-seeded University or No. 11 Reseda in the quarterfinals May 12 also at 7 p.m. The Sheiks (8-7) beat crosstown rival in four sets in their regular season finale last Thursday and finished fourth in the Southern League behind Bravo Medical, Elizabeth Learning Center and Maywood Academy.

The semifinals are May 17 at 7 p.m. and the final is Saturday, May 21, at 2:30 p.m. at Roybal Learning Center.

Verdugo Hills is the No. 1 seed in Division II, followed by LA Jordan, Eagle Rock and Bravo, which hosts No. 13 Franklin in the first round. Maywood is No. 9 and travels to No. 8 Fairfax. 

Elizabeth is seeded No. 2 in the eight-team and hosts No. 7 Valley Alternative in the first round Thursday, May 12, at 7 p.m.

West Valley League champion Granada Hills is the No. 1 seed in the 24-team Division I tournament and has a first-round bye Thursday.
