City Section Finalizes Football Division Realignment

The Advisory Committee has implemented a strength-based formula set to begin next season.

The Los Angeles City Section's Football Advisory Committee has released the 2011-12 Football Division Alignment.

The new football divisions use a strength-based formula that will be in effect for the next two seasons. Division realignment will occur every odd calendar year.

Based on the number of teams in the league that are Division I, the Coliseum, Marine, Western, Valley Mission and West Valley Leagues will each have two automatic qualifiers in the Division I playoffs; the Eastern and East Valley Leagues will each have one automatic qualifier in Division I; and the Northern and Southern Leagues will have zero automatic qualifiers.

A mandatory pre-season coaches' meeting will be held July 30 at 9 a.m. in Heritage Hall on the campus of USC. At least one member of the paid coaching staff from each school must attend.

The 2011-12 realignment breaks down as follows:
