Watch: ASNC Takes Oath of Office

After a week's delay, the new ASNC gets down to business.

Members of the Arroyo Seco Neighborhood Council pledged to represent their neighborhoods with "dignity, integrity and pride" and to "respect, value and consider" differing opinions on Monday evening as they were sworn into office by Councilman Ed Reyes.

After taking the pledge, board members got to the business of electing officers and filling out committees.

Montecito Heights representative Martha Benedict will serve another term as ASNC President. Monterey Hills representative Judy Knapton made the nomination, which was supported by all board members except for Sycamore Grove Representative Joseph Riser.

The board selected Jack Fong, an at large representative, as their Vice President. Recreation, Culture & Arts Representative Ariel Van Zandwege was also nominated.

The board elected Knapton to another term as treasurer in a close race over Mount Washington resident Andrew Ptashnik. Knapton received nine votes to Ptashnik's seven.
