Robert Negrete Announces Candidacy for Council District 13 Seat

Atwater Village resident Robert Negrete, an aide to Democratic state Sen. Alex Padilla, says he is joining the long list of candidates vying to replace Los Angeles City Councilman Eric Garcetti in the 13th District.

Negrete, 39, is staff director in Padilla's Los Angeles office and says he has worked for Padilla for 10 years.

"I have more than 15 years of public service experience and a lifetime of knowledge about the diverse neighborhoods I am seeking to represent," he said in a statement.

Thirteen others have filed to run for Garcetti's seat in a district that branches into such communities as Hollywood, Koreatown, Filipinotown, Echo Park, Silver Lake, Los Feliz, Atwater Village, and Glassell Park.
