Hollywood Bowl Ticket Prices to Increase for 2013 Season

Tickets for Saturday night performances will see the biggest hikes.

The Board of Supervisors approved price increases Tusday for concert tickets and valet parking for the Hollywood Bowl's 2013 season.

The Los Angeles Philharmonic Association, which operates the outdoor arena, asked for the price hikes to cover increased production, labor, marketing and artists' costs. The last set of increases was approved roughly one year ago.

Forty percent of all tickets at the Bowl are sold at $30 or less. Tickets for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday performances are offered at $1 for the 380 bench seats at the top of the arena.

Under the new pricing schedule, tickets for most box seats will increase by $2 to $7 per seat, depending on location and the timing of performances. Tickets for weekday performances will carry smaller increases, and the biggest hikes will be seen for Saturday night shows. Box seat tickets for special events will go up by $13.

Ramp seating tickets will increase by $1 to $5. Some bench seating prices will remain the same, while others will be bumped up by $1 to $3.

The valet parking charge will increase from $40 to $45, but other parking charges will remain the same.

The Philharmonic Association expects the new pricing schedule will generate about $30,000 in additional revenue to be used for capital expenditures, equipment, services and supplies at the Bowl.

The board's vote was 4-1, with Supervisor Don Knabe voting against the increases.
