GARCETTI JOINS LGBT COMMUNITY PRIDE CELEBRATION

L.A. City Councilmember Eric Garcetti participated in Los Angeles Pride, a celebration of the LGBT community. Garcetti was the Gay & Lesbian Elder Housing's guest of honor on their float entry.

"We've come a long way toward becoming a better, more tolerant country since Stonewall in 1969. The parade is a great way to celebrate our progress while remembering that there's still more to do to ensure equal rights for all," said Garcetti.

PRIDE is one of the largest and most inclusive parades in Los Angeles with more than 400,000 participants and spectators.

GARCETTI TO HOST ANTI-GRAFFITI BREAKFAST ON SATURDAY

Join Councilmember Eric Garcetti on Saturday, June 16, to learn more about how you can help fight graffiti in our neighborhoods through the Council Office's anti-graffiti program, Uniting Neighborhoods to Abolish Graffiti (UNTAG).

The breakfast will begin at 9 a.m. at El Centro del Pueblo (1157 Lemoyne St.) in Echo Park.

Through UNTAG, local residents and business owners volunteer as block captains who monitor one block or one hot spot for graffiti. When they find graffiti, they report it via phone or online to the City’s Department of Public Works for removal.

UNTAG is a great way for people who do not have a lot of time to volunteer to have a major impact on the community -- it is specifically limits the area for which volunteers are responsible.
