UPDATED: Woman Jumped in Front of Metro Red Line Train in Hollywood
The woman is eventually rescued by firefighters after suffering injuries to her face and upper body.
A woman who apparently jumped in front of a Metro Red Line train at a station in Hollywood Friday was hospitalized with serious injuries, authorities said.
The train was approaching the platform level at the Hollywood Western Station in the 5400 block of West Hollywood Boulevard when the woman was hit by the train around 8 a.m., said Rick Jager of Metro.
According to the preliminary investigation, the woman apparently jumped in front of the train, said Dave Sotero, also of Metro. The circumstances of the injury remained under investigation, Sotero said.

Firefighters were sent to the scene, and the unidentified woman, in her 40s, was brought to safety by about 8:35 a.m., Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department said. She suffered injuries to her face and upper body, and was in serious condition, Humphrey said.
Metro service in the area was delayed by about 15-20 minutes because trains had to be routed onto a single track in the area, Jager said.
