A water main break sent water cascading down a pair of West Hollywood streets today, causing some flooding and mud to flow into around 12 residential and commercial buildings.
A sinkhole was also possibly forming, according to NBC4.
A section of 1201 Formosa St. at Lexington Avenue buckled after a water main break, according to NBC.
The problem was reported about 1:25 p.m. at Formosa and Lexington avenues, Inspector Scott Miller of the Los Angeles County Fire Department said.
Traffic was being routed away from the area.
According to the Department of Water and Power, the broken pipe was a 12- inch cast-iron main. About 50 to 60 DWP customers were left without water service, and repairs were expected to take eight to 12 hours, according to the utility.
