Teen Hiker Rescued From Hollywood Hills

The hiker calls 911 after she becomes ill on a trail.

A 16-year-old girl who became ill while hiking in Runyon Canyon Park in the Hollywood Hills was rescued Monday by firefighters and Park Ranger personnel, a Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman said.

"The hiker called 911 at 2:49 p.m. after she became ill on the trail," said spokesman Shawn Lenske.

Fire department paramedics and Park Ranger personnel located the girl around Fuller Ave. at approximately 3:25 p.m., according to Lenske.

"Paramedics walked her out to a waiting ambulance where her medical condition was being evaluated," Lenske said. There's no word yet on her current condition or whether she will need to be transported to a hospital, he said.
