Suspect in Hollywood Subway Stabbing Arrested

Sheriff's deputies take Gene Sim into custody Tuesday night in connection with the killing of Jesse Garay on a Hollywood subway Friday night.

A suspect in the stabbing death of a man aboard a Hollywood subway is in police custody, authorities announced Wednesday morning.

Sheriff's deputies arrested Gene Sim, 33, in Buena Park without incident Tuesday night, according to a news release.

Sim, described as a transient, was booked on a probabation violation and is being held without bail.

Charges in the slaying are pending, authorities said. A booking photo was not available.

Detectives have been searching for the person who stabbed Jesse Garay, 59, of North Hollywood, since the between Metro's Hollywood/Western and Hollywood/Vine stations.

Although the incident occurred within Los Angeles city limits, county sheriff's deputies patrol Metro Rail facilities and are investigating the case.
