Suspect Appears in Court for Beating of Transgender Woman in Hollywood
Hearing is rescheduled for Nicol Shakhnazaryan.
A Los Angeles man who is charged with the beating of a transgender woman on Hollywood Boulevard appeared in court on Tuesday.
Nicol Shakhnazaryan faces battery charges as well as those for serious bodily injury, assault by means likely to produce great bodily injury and a special allegation of great bodily injury.
His victim, Vivian Diego, was hospitalized for seven days after the beating occurred on May 31.

The preliminary hearing date for Shakhnazaryan has now been postponed until Aug. 14.
He could face up to eight years in prison if convicted.
