Santa Ana Winds Prompt Extension of Red Flag Warning

Isolated wind gusts up to 70 mph are expected on some peaks in the Santa Monica Mountains.

A red flag warning prompted by gusty Santa Ana winds and low humidity has been extended through Friday in the Santa Monica Mountains.

The red flag warning will be in effect through 5 p.m. Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

Northeast winds of 25 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph are expected, with gusts up to 70 mph on some peaks, forecasters warned.

Humidity was expected to fall into the single digits and low teens beginning Wednesday night.

Temperatures will reach the upper 80s and 90s, with overnight lows in the 60s and 70s.
