Power Restored After Collision Darkens Residences

From City News Service

Power was restored today to about 1,500 customers in the foothills of the Hollywood Hills, just south of the Hollywood Freeway, after a hit-and-run driver crashed into a power pole and knocked electrical lines onto a house.

The outage occurred at 12:12 a m. and power was restored at 5:20 a.m., according to Jane Galbraith of the Department of Water and Power.

The collision took place at 2010 Holly Hill Terrace, north of Franklin Avenue, Los Angeles fire department spokeswoman Katherine Main said.

"Paramedics were dispatched to the scene but the driver fled the accident," she said.

The crash knocked live wires onto a house on Holly Hill Terrace, but no one was injured in the home and there was no fire, authorities said.

A news photographer at the scene told City News Service the blackout covered an area bounded by Selma Avenue to the south, Las Palmas Avenue to the west and Vine Street to the east.
