Police Seek Public's Help in Catching Dognappers

Two men allegedly stole Chihuahuas from a Petco store and assaulted an employee.

Los Angeles police today asked for the public's help in finding two men who walked into a pet store in Hollywood and stole two spotted Chihuahuas and punched an employee who tried to stop them.

The men entered the Petco store in the 7200 block of Sunset Boulevard, near La Brea Avenue, about 3:30 p.m. on June 16, asked about pet adoption, and one of them took the two dogs from their cages and tried to leave.

An employed confronted the men and was punch in the head by one of the them. Both fled.

The first suspect was described as in his late 20s, about 5 feet 9 inches tall and 170 pounds. He was wearing a red shirt, black pants and white shoes.

A second suspect, was 38 to 40 years old, about 5 feet 9 inches tall and about 190 pounds. He had rotten teeth and was wearing a white T-shirt, black shorts and white shoes.

Anyone with information about the case was asked to call detectives at (213) 972-2909 or the watch commander of the Hollywood Division at (213) 485-4328.
