Police today warned the public to beware of a phone scam in which callers claim to be federal fugitive or bail agents.

The phone calls originate from a number beginning with 844-653, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The callers are “extremely forceful,” insisting that the call recipient is hiding individuals with outstanding warrants, police said.

“This is an elaborate scam in an attempt for you to send money. Do not send them money,” according to an LAPD statement that advises anyone receiving such a call to contact their phone carrier.

Oh, thanks for catching that. I post dozens and dozens of stories a day. Allow me one typo? Thanks!

Who can spot all of the typos and failures in grammar and punctuation in Ms. Brown's comment? Yes, she is just a commenter and not claiming to be a journalist or author of actual articles and posts, but shouldn't we all try to live by the same standard? I seem to remember an old saying about glass houses. Just a thought.

Guilty as charged, Mark. I've lost my ability to proofread/edit my own writing ever since I started using Facebook so much. I used to be able to write error-free text lo those many years ago when we used a pen and paper. Now I'm not employed, not writing anything that matters and doing it all on a keyboard. A word of advice, don't get old. You can find many other gifts, but the ones you counted on when you were younger are not always in evidence anymore.

tell them sure he's hear, and when they show up, shoot the mofo with a .45 cause it's stupid to shoot twice.

Yep Dan, you've got the right idea.
