LAFD Investigates Series of Trash Can Fires

At least half a dozen trash can or dumpster fires in Hollywood are reported within 90 minutes of one another early Saturday morning.

A series of seemingly connected rubbish fires struck Hollywood early Saturday morning.

According to Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Erik Scott, dispatchers received at least nine calls reporting fires in the area during a 90-minute period, with the first call at 3:54 a.m. in the 6700 block of Sunset Blvd. and the last at 5:20 a.m. in the 6700 block of Santa Monica Blvd.

All but one of the calls was designated as "rubbish fire" by the dispatcher, indicating the fires were set in a trash can or dumpster.
